JAY HARASYKO, CEO

Jay Harasyko has a passion for absence management. As owner and founder of Absence Innovations he educated businesses on absence management compliance and workstream solutions.

Now, as interim CEO of ReedGroup, in addition to maintaining his position at Guardian Life as Vice President, Large Market, Group and Worksite Markets, he brings this enthusiasm and experience to ReedGroup to guide their vision and strategic objectives. Jay is committed to the employees he leads and the client employees he serves.

At Guardian, Jay was recognized as the P&L leader for the 500+ market. Jay is responsible for strategy, planning, results and capability expansion. He is also directly responsible for Large Market Underwriting and Service and indirectly oversees Distribution and Financial and Planning efforts for this market segment. In addition to his Large Market responsibilities, Jay has oversight for the Strategic Change Office and the Project Leadership & Solutions and Quality Assurance teams. Jay successfully led the New Customer Case Installation or “NCCI” project, which improved Guardian’s ability to implement and install new customers in all size segments.  
  
Jay has more than 30 years of group insurance experience, and has a strong record for achieving results. His previous experiences include serving as an executive at two leading insurance carriers (The Hartford and The Travelers). He earned his undergraduate degree from Skidmore College, and is a graduate of the University of Connecticut’s Business Mastery Program. He is also a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist and has earned the Health & Group Life designations from the Health Insurance Institute of America. 
  
Jay, his wife Cindy, and their four children live in Glastonbury, CT. 
 

PAUL FARNSWORTH, CTO

As ReedGroup’s Chief Technology Officer, Paul Farnsworth brings innovative perspectives to our software and security  operations. A principled visionary who is the inventor of 28 patent-pending applications, he ensures that our tech is the best solution for our customers’ needs. In his prior role as SVP of Information Technology at Level 3, he was responsible for major initiatives including the Global Crossing IT integration and enterprise-wide deployment of agile SDLC models. Paul’s experience leading technology strategy ranges from start-ups to large corporations, including British Telecom, where he led development and operations for bt.com, btWholesale.com, and Global Services. His professional experience also includes the roles of Vice President of IT for Qwest, and CIO for the Qwest Product Management division.

 

PAT HAYES, CFO

Over 25 years of experience in corporate finance, governance and policy, operations and strategic planning, as well as mergers, acquisitions and business integration, in large public organizations and smaller, private enterprises, have furnished Pat with his unique perspective on finance. As ReedGroup’s Chief Financial Officer, he is focused on maintaining business health, and responsible for all financial functions – accounting, reporting and controls, and forecasting. When Pat joined us at ReedGroup, he brought his positive energy and enlightened perspective garnered through previous positions as CFO for FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students), a non-profit collegiate outreach mission operating on 73 campuses in the U.S., CFO at Knowledge Learning Corporation, an early childhood education organization with offices in the U.S., U.K., and Singapore, and as COO at StarTek, a multi-national, publically traded business process outsourcer with contact centers in the U.S., Canada, and the Philippines. Both his BS and MBA were earned at the University of Central Florida.

JOE GUERRIERO, SVP, MDGUIDELINES

Joe Guerriero is the Senior Vice President of Reed Group’s MDGuidelines™ division, and the renegade among us. His intuition with data in the medical arena is drawn from over 20 years of experience in publishing and health care, as well as expertise in marketing, advertising and digital strategy. Joe has held leadership roles at Success Media, Billboard, and Healthleaders, Inc., where he launched Health Leaders magazine. Immediately prior to ReedGroup, he served as Vice President/Group Publisher at Eagle Publishing, where he ran the company’s $25M political media group, including the nationally known RedState.com. Joe is a graduate of Manhattanville College and has studied integrated sales and brand marketing at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
 

TOM GERGELY, SVP, CANADA ABSENCE LEADER

As Senior Vice President and leader of ReedGroup’s Canadian Absence Business, Tom Gergely plays a key role in understanding client needs and providing solutions. His broad base of absence consulting and administration knowledge, specifically in the areas of workers’ compensation and disability risk management, make him an innovative leader in our business development. Strategy, operations, innovation, business development and client management all fall within his realm of responsibility.

Having developed industry-leading analytical tools necessary in the identification of casual costing factors and appropriate risk management strategies, Tom has led the creation of innovative approaches relating to organizational health management and integrated program design. He brings a fresh perspective on branding and marketing to the healthcare arena. His degree in business and economics is from the University of Western Ontario, and he serves as Chairman of the Board for London Health Sciences Centre, one of Canada’s largest hospital groups.

 

SAMIA JARJOURA, VICE PRESIDENT, SALES AND ANALYTICS

Samia Jarjoura brings over 15 years of experience in disability management and mental health in the workplace to her role as ReedGroup Canada’s Vice President of Disability Consulting. In that time, she has supported many large national organizations in their implementation of disability governance, including best practices and outsourced programs, as well as provided guidance and solutions to manage risk and drive significant cost savings. Samia has also led optimization of disability management plan designs, program policies and procedures, and the implementation and management of strategic solutions customized to a client’s unique needs. In recent years, she has become an expert leadership coach, with a focus on mental health in the workplace and return-to-work best practices. Samia regularly presents at national conferences, and is equally proficient in English and French.

 

MARK GORDON, DIRECTOR, WORKERS COMPENSATION, REED GROUP LEGAL SERVICES P.C.

 
As the leader of the Workers’ Compensation practice and a Paralegal, Mark is well versed in the provision of Appeal Representation and expert consulting services in all areas of WC claims management including accident investigation, claims management, return to work, and experience rating analysis.

Mark has 25 years’ experience in workers’ compensation as an employer resource both internal and external in a wide range of industries including manufacturing, transportation, hospitality, retail, municipal government, education, and healthcare.  His knowledge of legislation, policy and WC practice has resulted in significant cost recovery/avoidance achievements for his clients. He also has a proven record of success with employer representation at Appeals and the Tribunal. Mark has a sound understanding of experience rating programs and proven strengths in achieving positive claim management outcomes and financial returns.  His experience in OHS and human resource matters leads to a consolidated approach to prevention/claims management activities. 

LAURIE MACDOUGALL, DIRECTOR DISABILITY ADMINISTRATION

Laurie is the Director of our Absence Management Practice responsible for delivery of short term disability services and the management of delivery teams. Laurie drives process improvements in delivery that enhance quality, reduce cost and create scale. She has a strong client focus on both the manager and employee experience when it comes to disability.

Laurie has successfully led many client implementations, resulting in smooth transition of services or upgrading of platforms.

Laurie has more than 20 years’ experience in Disability Management, Employee Relations and Human Resources. Her areas of expertise include project management, client implementations, and partnering with client employee relations teams to solve the most complex absence management cases.

She is currently working toward completing her Certified Employee Benefit Specialists designation.

DEBRA MAW, VICE PRESIDENT CANADIAN OPERATIONS

Deb joins ReedGroup bringing a wealth of knowledge in the disability and absence management industry across roles in senior leadership, consulting, disability quality control, and rehabilitation.
 
Deb has demonstrated  leadership talent in the areas of client implementations, driving best practices in claims decision quality, corporate operations, and disability appeals.  As a fierce advocate for continuous improvement, Deb has had a successful career leading customer operations teams successfully through Voice of the Customer deliverables (lean/ six sigma), and establishing process improvements to communicate claim decisions and best in class client stewardship.
 
Deb is recognized as a valued leader who is passionate for both her team and for the client, and admired for her commitment to excellence, her leadership and her laughter!

MIGUEL FRIEDE, DIRECTOR, DISABILITY OPERATIONS

Miguel currently holds the position of Director for the disability operations at ReedGroup. In this role, Miguel is responsible for the overall absence management and account delivery. This includes managing staffing activities, providing technical expertise and insight in absence management, account governance and supporting growth of the business through client retention and new sales activities.

Miguel has been working in the absence and disability management area for nearly 15 years being engaged in different roles such as case management; rehabilitation consultant; team leader, manager and more recently senior organizational health consultant. Miguel holds a Bachelor degree in Exercise Sciences specialization in Athletic Therapy from Concordia University. Also, he completed the GBA certification of CEBS in 2011.
